HISTORY
Ø In
16th Century Fort St
George was built by East India Company, the architect was Francis Day. It is
the First English Fortress in India.

Sea was little closer to the Fort resulting in the sand accretion to the south
of the coast, It affects the ramparts(Defensive wall) of the coast.
Ø Madras
Harbour was built in 1881.
Mountstuart Elphinstone Grant Duff the governor of madras from 1881 to 1886 and built the promenade in 1884.
Ø At
the same year Governor named Marina into “Madras Marina”.

ATTACK IN MARINA
Ø Tsunami
was caused due to the 9.2 Magnitude
Earth Quake at about 257 km
Southeast of Banda Aceh, Sumatra, Indonesia.

2004 at 6.20am IST, the height
of the tsunami wave at the beach was 6 m.
Ø It
washed away approximately 206
persons on the beach, including touristers , joggers, small childrens etc.
